I just saw this linked on TV By the Numbers (Chuck Fans Launch Movie Effort That Isn’t Complete Nonsense) and I have to say, it’s total genius. And yes, I pledged some bucks because I’m not ready to give up.

All of these. Such very good points. I don’t think Matthew could ever be as honest with Lavinia and his Mother as he was with Mary. He told her he thought he could die, and let her see his fears. He told her he couldn’t possibly speak about the war. He opened up in his way. On the other hand, when he asked, she was the one to tell him the truth about his condition. And he knows how she’s never pitied him, how she’s never broken down. I want to mention again just how Lavinia was never in her league, in all this, she could never take Mary’s place and she knew it. Which is sad. But I think Matthew thought Lavinia had to be protected, so he couldn’t be himself with her, while Mary…it’s not how they were with each other.
She’s been strong for herself, for him, for her family all this time. And he was the one to put some of that weight on her shoulders but now, now he’s asking her to let go of all of this baggage, because from now on, they’ll carry it together.

I see quite some ships with chemistry. It is not very hard to have it these days, because usually writers explore physical intimacy a lot. TV/Movies are full of extreme sexual scenes. However, it’s rare a chemistry that is powerful and it doesn’t need physical closeness. Yes, it’s not very difficult to have chemistry when you stuck your tongue into someone’s throat (Although, some ships cannot even benefit from it), now try to have outstanding chemistry from across a room. Those two have it in spades and they don’t even have to try. They could bottle up chemistry and sell it to the lesser ships.
